Brunswick Boat Group Announces New Edgewater Expansion

Edgewater, FL - The corporation which owns two iconic boat brands is planning a new expansion at their south Volusia facility.

The Brunswick Boat Group, a division of the Brunswick Corporation, has announced their plans for the Brunswick Fiberglass Boat Technology Center (BFBTC), an expansion to their existing Edgewater facility.

This 45,000 square foot facility will be the home to a brand new boat product development team that will help design and engineer products from two iconic boat brands, Boston Whaler and Sea Ray.

"In order to bring more electronics to boats, bring more integration to the engine, bring more solutions to the issues our consumers have, we needed the space and the engineering facility to do that," says Nick Stickler, president of Boston Whaler.

Stickler also said that this expansion will help bring a bigger engineering team to "go much deeper" into naval architecture, to better serve their customers as well as supplying jobs to the local communities.

"2019 will be a transformative year for Brunswick and the addition of the new Technology Center is just one piece of the overall story," said David Foulkes, Brunswick CEO. "As we continue to position our focus and vision solely on the global marine industry, it will be imperative that we continue to create centers of excellence to consistently grow and improve the boating experience."

The new expansion is slated to open sometime in the late third quarter of 2019 and will house around 150 extra employees once construction is complete.

This expansion comes almost a year after Sea Ray announced the closure of their Flagler Beach facility back in June.
