Deltona, FL - Deputies arrest a Deltona man after he smashed the windows of multiple Sheriff's Office vehicles.

While at the District 4 office in Deltona Wednesday morning (January 27th), deputies learned of a person who was smashing up cars in the parking lot. When deputies went outside, the suspect was gone.

Surveillance video from the building showed a car driving into the parking lot just before the suspect, 38-year-old Michael Alicea, stepped out of the car holding a black and blue baseball. Investigators then watched as the footage showed Alicea smashing the windows of four patrol vehicles that were sitting in the parking lot. After smashing the windows, Alicea discarded the bat in a trash can outside of the office and left.

Soon after his attack, deputies began to review multiple License Plate Readers (LPR) in the area to search for Alicea's vehicle. One LPR was able to capture Alicea's vehicle, confirming his involvement in the vandalism. Deputies soon went to Alicea's residence and found the same car that was captured on surveillance cameras and the LPR.

Alicea has since been arrested and charged with criminal mischief. Data from the Volusia County Clerk of Courts shows that Alicea remains in custody with bond set at $5,000.
