Andrew Gillum Holding Campaign Rally At BCU

Daytona Beach, FL - The man on top of the Democratic Party ticket in Florida plans to hold a campaign rally at Bethune-Cookman University just before early voting begins in the area.

Campaign officials for Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum announced today (October 25th) that the "Early Vote Rally" will take place tomorrow afternoon (October 26th) at 4:30 p.m. at the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center on West International Speedway Boulevard/U.S. 92 in Daytona Beach.

As of 1:30 p.m. today, at least 39 people planned to go and another 114 were interested, according to the campaign's Facebook page.

The rally takes place the day before early voting begins in Volusia County and just after Gillum and his main opponent in the Florida gubernatorial race - Republican Ron DeSantis - held their second and final televised debate.

It'll be the second time during this campaign season that the Democrat puts in an appearance at BCU. He did the same in August just before pulling off the upset win in the party's crowded primary race.

Gillum also campaigned after his primary win in Flagler County, headlining the Flagler Blue Barbecue around a month ago.

DeSantis' last public appearance in the Daytona Beach area was his final campaign stop during the GOP primary race, where he would end up victorious over state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

It was soon after that when DeSantis resigned his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives - where he represented the Daytona Beach area - to focus full-time on campaigning to be Rick Scott's replacement in the governor's mansion.

Following the BCU rally, Gillum plans to hold a "meet & greet" campaign stop that same night at The Center in Deltona (1640 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive), one organized by the Volusia County Democratic Hispanic Caucus of Florida. Doors for that event open at 5:30 p.m., according to city officials.
