DeLand, FL– DeLand area parents in need of school supplies can look to the city to lend a helping hand.
The City of DeLand and the Spring Hill Neighborhood Association, with assistance from many community sponsors, are proud to present the 7th Annual Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway & Health Initiative where hundreds of youngsters will receive a free backpack and school supplies. The giveaway will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 5 at the Earl Brown Park Amphitheater, 815 South Alabama Avenue.
Each student will receive one backpack on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last and students must be present to receive a backpack. Tickets will be given to parents or children who arrive at the park early to ensure they receive a backpack. Free school supplies, drink vendor samples and community health related vendors will also be on site.
