2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Begins Tomorrow

Daytona Beach, FL - Hurricane season officially begins on Monday and the 2020 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins tomorrow, running through next Thursday, June 4.

Jim Judge, Volusia County Emergency Management Director, encourages everyone to take advantage of the holiday to save some money and be prepared for any disaster. He said getting prepared well ahead of any natural disaster is better than waiting until the last minute. "Through the tax-free holiday, you can go out nonstressful, get these supplies, have them on hand, and you're ready to weather the storm."

Only qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax, according to Judge. " There are quite a few items that will be tax-free. They will have a list there of what you can buy and what quantity you can buy. Batteries, flashlights, battery-operated lanterns, weather alert radios, but of course, there's a limit to these items
