DeLand, FL - Update: The 16-year-old boy in DeLand, who was hospitalized after an early morning drive-by shooting on Tuesday, had a criminal record, according to DeLand police.
DeLand Police Chief Jason Umberger said at a Tuesday press conference that the boy may have been a target in the drive-by shooting.

Police are investigating an early morning drive-by shooting in DeLand that left a 16-year-old boy hospitalized.
Officers were sent to 715 Wright Court just after 3:15 AM on Tuesday after an unknown suspect fired at least 17 rounds into the home. A 16-year-old boy inside the home suffered a gunshot wound to each of his legs. His parents were also inside the home at the time of the shooting, but they were not hit.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Officials say his injuries are not life-threatening and he's listed in stable condition.
