Eleven stores in southwest Volusia County were identified as having sold vape products to an undercover Volusia Sheriff's deputy, according to a report on the investigation from the Volusia Sheriff's Office. 20 stores were tested in the operation, with a majority selling the controlled product to an under-21 purchaser.
The investigation covered a variety of locations across Deltona, DeLand, and Orange City. According to the report, the employees who sold the vape products to the undercover deputy were charged for their alleged offense. It's not uncommon for the VSO to carry out such operations, and many chains who sell alcohol and tobacco products commission their own secret shoppers to test their employees.
A list of locations said to have sold vape products to an underage, undercover deputy was provided by the Volusia Sheriff's Office. The item sold in each instance was said to have been a vape.
