Volusia County, FL  - Two Democrats have emerged to challenge state Rep. Tom Leek, R-Ormond Beach, as he seeks a second term in a Volusia County House district.

Port Orange Democrats Brandon Schwedes and Katie Tripp opened campaign accounts Thursday to run in House District 25, according to the state Division of Elections website.

Leek had raised $70,679 for his re-election bid as of Feb. 28, a finance report shows. Also in the race is Ormond Beach Libertarian Joseph Hannoush.

Meanwhile Thursday, a fifth Democrat opened a campaign account to run for a seat that will be vacated this year by Rep. Katie Edwards-Walpole, a Plantation Democrat who decided against seeking another term.

Pembroke Pines Democrat Stephen Korka opened a campaign account for the House District 98 race, joining fellow Democrats Andrew Dolberg, Elaine Geller, Michael Gottlieb and Raphael Barak Socher, according to the Division of Elections.
