Florida - Televised primary-election debates among “leading candidates” for Florida governor are scheduled for August.

The Children’s Movement of Florida and the Florida Press Association announced Wednesday that a pair of debates will be held Aug. 1 and Aug. 2, in advance of the Aug. 28 primaries. The announcement didn’t confirm the appearances of any candidates at the debates, which will be held at the University of Miami.

The groups also released a list of TV stations in Florida’s 10 major media markets that will broadcast the debates produced by South Florida CBS station WFOR/Channel 4.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam and Congressman Ron DeSantis are among the Republicans who have filed for the office, while the Democratic candidates include former Congresswoman Gwen Graham, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine and Winter Park entrepreneur Chris King.

Qualifying for the governor’s race, as well as state Cabinet and legislative offices, runs from noon June 18 until noon June 22.
