DeLand, FL—Stetson men's tennis owns the No. 6 mid-major recruiting class in the country for the upcoming 2017-18 season, according to the highly regarded junior tennis website TennisRecruiting.net. The website released its annual mid-major rankings on Monday.

This is the second straight ranking for the Hatters, as the 2016-17 class received a No.21 ranking. The rankings include teams from outside the Power 5 conferences and the Ivy League. They also include NCAA Divisions II and III, and are based on commitments reported on or before May 25. The rankings do not include transfer students.

Stetson’s three-man recruiting class consists of student-athletes from Canada (Malik Bhatnagar), Sweden (Linus Bergevi) and Florida (Antoine Sanchez).

"Malik, Linus and Antoine are three outstanding young men who embrace our core values and vision for the program,” Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. “They are passionate, hard-working, and will represent Stetson University with great pride.”

San Diego tops this year’s rankings, followed by Florida Atlantic, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine, Rice and Stetson. No other Atlantic Sun Conference program was ranked.

“Last year our nationally ranked recruiting class was composed of four freshmen who made an immediate impact on our team,” Noblet said. “With three more added to the roster, we are strengthening our foundation for future success. Having a team composed of nine players will also provide additional depth and raise our overall competitive level."

Sanchez is a four-star recruit who recently won the 4A state championships in both singles and doubles at Sarasota’s Riverview High School. He currently ranks No. 83 nationally in the Class of 2017. Bhatnagar ranked No. 376 in the world among juniors by the ITF while Bergevi is the No. 2-ranked junior in Sweden.
