Memorial Day Remembrance Honors Freedom's Heroes

Daytona Beach, FL - On Monday, May 29, Lohman Community Outreach will host a one-of-a-kind Memorial Day Patriotic Remembrance to honor local veterans for their sacrifice and service. The Remembrance will take place at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. The ceremony, designed to show dedication and appreciation to local veterans and members of the military will begin promptly at 11:00 am. This is a free and family-friendly community event open to the entire public. Following the program lunch will be provided for all. The Remembrance will feature the Champions of Freedom presentation; this component of the program highlights local veterans who served and sacrificed to defend our freedom. A time of meet and greet with veterans and members of the military will follow. The Remembrance also includes the 2017 Youth Essay Contest Awards Ceremony to announce winners of the writing competition titled, ‘The True Meaning of Memorial Day.’ The contest, open to area middle and high school students was established to create an educational awareness involving youth in area communities so they could learn more about the true meaning of Memorial Day. $500 will be awarded to one each middle and high school first place winner; $200 will be awarded to one each first place runner-up at both middle and high school levels and $100 will be awarded to one each second place runner-up at both middle and high school levels.
