Daytona Beach, FL – 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the boathouse and the annual Halifax Summer Regatta. Teams from all over the southern United States regularly travel to the event, the last sprint-length (1,000 meter) course of the season, and the venue has also drawn teams from Canada and Europe. This year is the first time that the event will span two-days, Saturday, July 23rd and Sunday, July 24th, and HRA will host over 650 rowers and their families over the two-day event.

Halifax Rowing Association was founded in 1994 by three seasoned scullers who saw a wide-open waterway and opportunity to introduce rowing to the Daytona Beach community. With a little luck, a lot of fundraising, and a grant from the, the HRA boathouse was constructed in 1996 and rowing became a permanent staple of the Daytona Beach riverbank. Twenty-years have passed and the club is now the home of to HRA adults, juniors, and adaptive rowers as well as the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University crew team. Visiting college, high school, and masters teams have also rowed out of the HRA boathouse.

Sponsorships continue to play a crucial role in the success of the event. This year’s regatta is sponsored in part by Florida Cancer Specialists, Halifax Health, Radiology Associates, Brown & Brown, Hammer Nutrition, Energizer/Hawaiian Tropic, Wright Printery, Love Whole Foods, and Tomoka Eye Associates.
