DeLand, FL-In a ritual that takes place at the end of every winter, Florida snowbirds lock up their seasonal houses and RVs for another year and head back to their northern digs.

But how secure are the homes they leave behind?

Dennis Mudge and Lisa Hamilton will offer tips on preparing seasonal homes for temporary closure at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave. Topics will include preparing the interior and exterior, preventing mold and mildew, preparing for storms, warding off pests, updating documents, and protecting against burglars.

Mudge is the director of the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, and Hamilton is an extension agent.

Reservations are not required. For more information, call the library at 386-822-6430, ext. 20762.
