FL Hospital To Present Community Lecture Series On Lung Cancer

Volusia & Flagler Counties, FL. — The Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties and Florida Cancer Specialists will host a series of physician-led lectures to teach the community about lung cancer screenings and the advanced treatment options available.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 14 percent of all new cancers are lung cancers. It is the second most common cancer in both men and women, excluding skin cancer. In men, prostate cancer is more common, while in women breast cancer is more common.

Approximately 1 in 14 men will develop lung cancer in his lifetime, while the risk for a woman is about 1 in 17. These statistics include both smokers and non-smokers.

On Nov. 6, join Florida Hospital Fish Memorial while radiation oncologist Dr. Irfan Munir Ahmed and medical oncologist Dr. Ernesto Bustinza-Linares discuss lung cancer. This event will be at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Summit Building, 1061 Medical Center Drive, Suite 211, Orange City.

On Nov. 13, join Florida Hospital DeLand while radiation oncologist Dr. Margarita Racsa and hematologist/oncologist Dr. Shemin Gupta discuss lung cancer. This event will be at the Wayne G. Sanborn Center, 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand.

 On Nov. 13, join Florida Hospital Flagler while radiation oncologist Dr. Luis Carrascosa and hematologist/oncologist Dr. Philip Ndum discuss lung cancer. This event will be at the Florida Hospital Flagler, 60 Memorial Medical Pkwy., Education Center, Palm Coast.

On Nov. 20 at noon, join Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center while radiation oncologist Dr. Johnny Bernard, Jr. and hematologist/oncologist Dr. Eric Harris discuss lung cancer. This event will be at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Medical Office Building, 301 Memorial Medical Pkwy., Classrooms A and B, Daytona Beach.
