Volusia County, FL- Volusia County’s Beach Safety Division will sponsor a two-mile Family Fun Beach Walk to benefit foster children served by the 7th Judicial Circuit’s Guardian ad Litem program on Saturday, June 4.
The walk starts at 10 a.m. on the beach behind Sun Splash Park, 611 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach. Participants can register early at www.gal7foundation.org or on-site at 9 a.m. The requested donation is $10 per person.
The event includes a free cookout, snow cones, cotton candy and goody bags for registered walkers. A moonwalk will be set up for children. The course is handicap accessible, and water will be provided along the beach walk.
There are more than 1,700 children in the foster care system of the 7th Judicial Circuit, which represents Volusia, Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of a child who has been abused, neglected or abandoned. Most of these children have been removed from their homes and placed with relatives or foster parents.
All proceeds will go directly to the Guardian ad Litem Foundation.
