Daytona Beach, FL – Daytona State College’s Homecoming 2016, Nov. 2-5, features special events for families, runners and ‘gamers’ alike.

The college’s inaugural 5K Walk/Runat 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, welcomes everyone to come out and kick off the weekend with an active venture around the Daytona Beach Campus. Participants receive a race t-shirt and finishing medal, while supplies last. Pre-registration is easy online; it’s $30 per person ($35 day of race), free for children age 10 and under. Proceeds go to student scholarships. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m.

Also on Saturday, Nov. 5, Daytona State’s Tabletop Gaming Club, Alumni Association and local gaming store Geek Nation host a charity “Magic the Homecoming” (card game) tournament, noon to 5 p.m., in the Lenholt building on the Daytona Beach Campus. The event includes demonstrations of how to play the game from 10 a.m. to noon, with the tournament starting at noon. For an entrance fee of $5, players will receive a full Welcome Deck to play the tournament. This means that both new and seasoned players are welcome to attend. All fees collected will go toward assisting homeless DSC students.

The entire extended weekend is packed with activities, open to Daytona State’s thousands of friends and near-70,000 alumni, coordinated by the DSC Alumni & Friends Association. Visit the homecoming webpage for a full list including Fall Festival with barbecue, car show, athletic events and a Holiday Bazaar of arts and crafts for sale.

Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout Saturday’s activities. For more information, visit DaytonaState.edu/Homecoming2016.
