groundbreaking shovels Deltona, FL- The City of Deltona is hosting its official ground- breaking ceremony for the City’s new community center, starting at 10:00am on Thursday January 26th. The Center, as it will be called, will be in the Howland Crossings business park, on Martin Luther King Boulevard, in the northwest section of the Deltona. The original Community Center was built by Deltona’s developers, the Mackle Brothers in the early 1960’s on Lakeshore Drive. This facility, located along the north shore of Lake Monroe, hosted many civic events as well as serving as the meeting place for Deltona’s senior population. In early 2016, the City Commission approved this project to build the new community center. The Center has 29,000 square feet, and will feature a banquet hall and stage, two separate kitchens, an area dedicated to activities for the Council on Aging, as well as meeting rooms and support offices. There will also be an outdoor area designed and reserved for outdoor activities. The Center was designed by CT Hsu and Associates and will be built by Mulligan Constructors Incorporated, from Orlando. Construction is expected to be completed by December of 2017.
