Plane Crashes in DeLand, Pilot Hospitalized

A plane crashed in DeLand at around 2:00 pm on Thursday leading to the injury of one pilot, authorities confirmed in the immediate aftermath. The incident occurred near SR-11 off Eidson Drive, and the pilot's injuries have been reported to be severe.

The plane was a twin-engine Admore Aircam according to its registration records. It was manufactured in 2023, and its registered owner is Admore International Jets, LLC in Kalispell, Montana. Its pilot has been reported to be 75-year-old Heinz Gustav Peier, a resident of Ormond Beach. No other occupants were on board at the time of the crash.

Several units with the Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association responded to the scene of the crash, and a spokesperson confirmed shortly afterward that Peier had been airlifted away from the scene. An investigation into the crash is being undertaken by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to determine a cause.
